Olympic Icons, Cable Car and Cutty Sark

27th September 2016

This outing itinerary combined elements from three City & Village Tours arranged to take in the best of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park with a return flight on the Thames Cable Car from the O2 to the Royal Docks and a visit to the Cutty Sark to see what £50 million of restoration had achieved.

We started at 10.30am at the Velodrome where morning coffee and biscuits were served at the trackside.  A short walk in the Olympic Park followed before we returned to the coach for a tour of the former Olympic Athletes Village, which has now been turned into a residential neighbourhood with its own shops and school.  After a visit to the London Aquatic Centre we enjoyed a roast beef lunch at the Railway Tavern, a traditional local pub, before taking a flight on the Emirates Air Line Thames Cable Car from the O2 to the Royal Docks and back again.  Finally we took the coach to Greenwich and spent the rest of the afternoon on the Cutty Sark, the world’s last clipper, finishing with refreshments in the cafe before heading home at 5.15pm.
